Evaluate the expression x2 + 2xy + y2 for x = -3, y = 2.

Answer:

Given,

x = -3

y = 2

To find the value of x² + 2xy + y²

x² + 2xy + y² = (-3)²  + 2 (-3)(2) + (2)²

                     = 9 - 12 + 4

                     = 13 -12

                     = 1

You can also get the answer if you  use the formula.

We know that,

x² + 2xy + y²  =  (x + y)²

                     =  ( -3 + 2)²

                     = (-1)²

                     = 1
