Evaluate the following functions. Write your answer and complete solution.

1. Given w(n)=n-1, find the value of the function if w=-1.

2. Given f(x)= x-3, find f(9.3).

3. Evaluate the function w(x) = |- 2x+3| if x = -1.

Answer:

1. w(-1) = -1 -1

= -2

2. f(9.3) = 9.3 - 3

= 6.3

3. w(-2) = | -2(-1) +3 |

= | 5 |

= 5

4. f(a) = -a -1

5. f(2x+3) = 4(2x+3) -5

= 8x + 12 -5

= 8x + 7

Hope this helps

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

1. Given w(n)=n-1, find the value of the function if w=-1.

2. Given f(x)= x-3, find f(9.3).

3. Evaluate the function w(x) = |- 2x+3| if x = -1.

4. Evaluate: f(x)= -x-1, find f(a)

5. Given f(x) = 4x -5, find f(2x+3).

To find:Evaluate the following functions.

Solution:

1. Given w(n)=n-1, find the value of the function if w=-1.

Ans: To find w(-1),put n=-1 in w(n)

w( - 1) = - 1 - 1

\red{w( - 1) = - 2} \\

2. Given f(x)= x-3, find f(9.3).

To find f(9.3), put x=9.3 in f(x)

f(9.3) = 9.3 - 3 \\

\green{f(9.3) = 6.3 }\\

3. Evaluate the function w(x) = |- 2x+3| if x = -1.

To find w(x) at x=-1, put the value of x as -1

w( - 1) = | - 2( - 1) + 3| \\

w( - 1) = |2 + 3| \\

w( - 1) = |5| \\

\pink{w( - 1) =5} \\

4. Evaluate: f(x)= -x-1, find f(a)

put x=a in f(x)

f(a) = - a - 1 \\

or

\orange{f(a) = - (a + 1)} \\

5. Given f(x) = 4x -5, find f(2x+3)

Put x= 2x+3 in f(x)

f(2x + 3) = 4(2x + 3) - 5 \\

f(2x + 3) = 8x + 12 - 5 \\

\purple{f(2x + 3) = 8x + 7} \\

Hope it helps you.
