We need to conserve our resources for the following reasons.

1. Many of the resources that we use like water, forests, petroleum etc. are fast getting depleted because of overexploitation.
2. Our lives depend in critical ways on these resources. If these resources get exhausted, then our lives will be threatened.
3. We also need to conserve these resources for the benefit of future generations. We do not have the right to finish off these resources in our own lifetime.
4. From the ethical point of view, the resources of the earth also belong to other species of life. Human beings do not have sole right over the use of resources like water and forests. Other life forms also depend on such resources. These resources need to be preserved for the sake of such species.
