local self government in India refers to governmental jurisdiction below the level of the state. Each state has its own local government legislation . It has the power to control the state. The municipal government has power, function and responsibilities but it also have some limitations like it cannot lay out of his respective areas, cannot interfere in public buildings,can not house for low income groups, conducting surveys,etc.
