The lay justice by galsworthy points out the justice system where poor are punished and actual culprits get scot free. The play revolves around two helpless characters Falder and Ruth. Falder is a poor clerk but very kind by heart. Ruth is a married woman who is socially and sexually harassed by her husband. Nobody in the society and majestic institution. Finally, when Falder tried to help Ruth, he got struck and took to prison.
Through the play, author wants to make the readers realize that how the circumstances make a poor person to commit something illegal and our society and law never judge that act with an eye of humanitarianism but with wordly law system.
