There's an identity which states that:
${a}^{3} + {b}^{3} + {c}^{3} = 3abc$
Where a+b+c=0.
Here,
$(- 17) + 12 + 5 = 0$

Therefore,
${( - 17)}^{3} + {12}^{3} + {5}^{3} \\ = 3 \times ( - 17) \times 12 \times 5 \\ = - 3060$
