  • Evaluate the following using identity.

Solution:-

 \sf {(99)}^{3}

 \sf =  {(100 - 1)}^{3}

Using the identity,

 \sf {(a - b)}^{3}  =  {a}^{3}  -  {b}^{3}  - 3ab(a - b)

We get,

 \sf {(100 - 1)}^{3}

 \sf =  {100}^{3}  -  {1}^{3}  - 3 \times 100 \times 1 \times 99

 \sf = 1000000 - 1 - 29700

 \sf = 970299

Hence,

 \sf {(99)}^{3}  = 970299
