Answer:

1)It results in the formation of a precipitate and deposits at the bottom of water. As a result, most of the impurity gets deposited at the bottom of water and we get clean water. Therefore, we can conclude that alum is added to a beaker of muddy water so that impurities present in the water can be removed to an extent.

2)➡We cannot separate salt and water solution by filtration ✔. This is because slat is completely soluble in water . ... for example, it can be used to separate Sand and water . ➡Salt can be separated from water by Evaporation.

3) it can be obtained by the evaporation process

4)When the solution equilibrium point is reached and no more solute will dissolve, the solution is said to be saturated.

OR

A saturated solution is a solution that contains the maximum amount of solute that is capable of being dissolved

5)This method is useful only when the substance which needs to be separated is in small quantity. The substances in the hand-picking method can be separated on the basis of size, colour, shape, weight etc.

Long Ques.

1)Different components of a mixture are separated in order to either separate the unrequired components from a mixture or sometimes, to separate more than one useful components from a mixture. -Grain purchased from shops can contain several impurities such as pieces of stone, husk, broken grains, etc.

2) by the properties and density of the separation

3)a) the action or process of filtering something.

b) the process of turning from liquid into vapour

c) Decantation is a process for the separation of mixtures of immiscible liquids or of a liquid and a solid mixture such as a suspension

d)a substance made by mixing other substances together.
