Eve ordered 2 different flavors of cakes. She ate 3 out of 8 equal pieces of one and 1 out of 4 equal pieces of the other. How much cake did she eat (as a fraction)?

3/8+1/4=0.625 or 5/8

0.625 = 625/1000

gcd(625,1000) = 125

0.625 = (625/125)/(1000/125) = 5/8
