Evelyn became deaf by what time she was 11. But she did not give up . She was determined to lead a normal life and pursue her interest in music.

Though many of her teachers refused to teach her music she was taught by master Ron Forbes. He taught her to feel the music and as a result, Evelyn was presented with the Soloist of the Year Award. Therefore, she became a source of inspiration for many other handicapped children
