Evelyn was not a deaf girl by birth. She gradually lost her hearing from the age of 8. She completely lost it at the age of 11. She was interested in music before she became deaf. It is because of hard work and sheer determination, that took her to great heights. She sensed the music vibrations in different parts of her body. That helped her to feel music more than normal people because of which she could produce melodious music.

Answer: Evelyn was a deaf girl but that didn't stop her from pursuing her career in music. Even if she wouldn't be able to listen to the music but she could feel it through her feet. She performs barefoot and the floor is made out of wood so that she can feel the vibration of the music and hence could perform amazingly on the stage with her xylophone.
