Graphite on the other hand, although also only made up of carbon atoms, is the only non-metal that can conduct electricity. This is because only 3 of the available valence electrons form covalent bonds leaving 1 spare electron, which then becomes delocalised.

Answer:

Graphite is able to conduct electricity due to delocalized electrons.  The reason why I did not say metallic bonds is that carbon is not a metal so I don't think it can be considered a metallic bond even though it has the properties of metallic bonds.  Also, I think the structure of graphite is not like the structure of a metal since it is made up of layers.
