1. The most important thing of nature called the nitrogen fixation is done by or carries out by algae like cyanobacteria.

2. A substance called agar agar can be obtained from algae named Gelidium and also from Gracilaria. This substance is helpful in making jellies and icecreams. It is also used for growing bacteria.

3. Many varieties or species of algae are consumed as food by humans. For example, algae like Spirullina are eaten by the space-travellers as these are rich in protein.

4. Also, algae has a role in fixing half of the amount of CO2 on earth.
