Even though each pollen grain has two male gametes. Why are at least 10 pollen grains and not 5 pollen grains required to fertilise 10 ovules present in a particular carpel ?

because one pollen tube enters only in 1 ovule/embryo sac so it releases 2 male gametes for double fertilization 1 for syngamy with egg and other for fusion with central cell nuclei to form endosperm and endosperm is necessary to provide nutrition to developing embryo/seed
