The leather belt gets attracted to the magnet because it has a metal belt and that gets attracted to the magnet.

Explanation:

  • Leather is a non-magnetic substance and it does not get attracted to any magnetic surface.
  • But leather belts are formed with a metal buckle in front. Metals are magnetic in nature and therefore the leather belt gets attracted to a magnet as it is the buckle that gets attracted and not the belt.
  • For leather bags also sometimes metal and magnets are used to create the buckle for closing that bag.
