Yes it is acceptable to consider a tree as a renewable resource of energy but not a forest. Even oil is falling under the category of non renewable resources the reason behind is it takes a lot of time to pass through the natural process that generate the oil. Trees are considered to be renewable resources because they provide nuts fruits flowers and various other resources but without causing any harm to the environment or humanity. Even after this for some human resources the trees are being cut down it may be for the purpose of timber or pulp or green Charcoal cold as well it can be easily reproduced.

It is true that trees are usually considered as a renewable source of energy.

Renewable sources of energy are usually found in the environment in their natural form and they can grow back considerably quickly. Although it takes time for a plant to grow back into a tree, the time taken is quicker than compared to the other natural non-renewable sources of energy like minerals in ores, oil, etc.

Therefore, trees are considered as renewable sources of energy as they can be grown back. However, this classification of trees as renewable and non-renewable depends on the rate at which it is cut down and it is grown back. The over-destruction of the trees and forests might lead to decrease in the renewability of the trees.
