Even though water is a renewable resource, its overuse and pollution make it unfit for use. This is because of the following reasons:

  • Reduced water quality: it is not like that people drink the water straight out of seas and rivers. Usually, filtering and cleaning of the water is required. The pollution levels on rivers and lakes (due to industry, sewage, etc.) is on the rise. It is becoming more expensive and difficult to actually make the availability of good quality an clean water for agriculture and human consumption.
  • Death of animals : Due to the drinking of the polluted water by the animals their death rate is on rise. Every year thousands of animals are dying due to the consumption of polluted water.
  • Diseases caused: The release of heavy metals and other chemicals into the water makes the use of these water harmful. The release of excessive mercury into the water and drinking this water causes disease Minamata.

Water is an essential resource for all the being on earth and it needs to be conserved at any cost.
