Glucose or sucrose are soluble in water but cyclohexane or benzene (simple six membered ring compounds) are insoluble in water. ... Thus, glucose and sucrose undergo extensive H-bonding with water. Hence, these are soluble in water. But cyclohexane and benzene do not contain −OH groups.
