When the pollen from anther of a plant falls on the stigma of same/other plant the by chemo-tropism a pollen tube is created. After then two male gametes goes through it and fuses (i) with the female gamete and (ii) with the two polar nuclei and undergoes triple fusion.

as fertilization occurs two times, so this process is called double fertilization.

The fusion of the ovary with one of the male gamete forms the seed and the fusion of with the polar nuclei forms the fruit (endosperm) which protects the seed and provides nourishment.
