Explanation:

When in a dark room the pupils dilate to let more light in so your can see properly. When your go to a brightly lit room all that 'extra light' coming in your eyes due to pupil dilation ( which happend when your entered dark room) is not needed so the pupils contract again.

Second thing that happens is iodopsin ( chemical that helps you see in dark ) starts to degenerate and rhodopsin ( chemical that helps you see in bright area ) gets secreted by rod cells in your eyes.
