Reason :

Only terminating and non - terminating

recurring decimals are rational.

Where as non - terminating , non recurring

decimals are irrational numbers.

Example :

Rational numbers

1 ) 0.5 = 1/2 terminating decimal

2 ) 0.333.... = 1/3 ( non - terminating

and repeating decimal )

Irrational numbers :

i ) 0.202002000..... ( we cannot express

in decimal form
