Every floor of a 12 storey building is 4m high. If a lift moves 2m every second, how long will it take to move from 2nd floor to 12th floor?

total height = 12×4 = 48m
1 sec = 2m
for 10 floor =40m =20sec

Height of one floor = 4 metres.

Speed of lift = 2m/s.

Speed = Distance / Time

Time = Distance / Speed

= 4 / 2

Time taken to reach one floor = 2 seconds

Distance from 2nd to 12th floor = 10 floor

= 10 × 4 = 40 metres.

Time taken from 2nd to 12th floor is

Time = Distance / Speed

= 40 / 2

= 20 seconds.
