Answer :

Sita covers greater distance by 400 m

Step-by-step explanation :

Given,

  • Sita takes takes 3 rounds of a square park of side 200 m
  • Gita takes 4 rounds of a rectangular park of the length 150 m and breadth 100 m.

Distance covered by Sita :

  \setlength{\unitlength}{1cm}\begin{picture}(0,0)\thicklines\multiput(0,0)(4,0){2}{\line(0,1){4}}\multiput(0,0)(0,4){2}{\line(1,0){4}}\put(1.5,-0.6){\bf\large 200\ m}\put(4.4,2){\bf\large 200\ m}\end{picture}

Side of the square = 200 m

Distance covered by Sita for one round will be equal to the Perimeter of the square park.

Perimeter of the square park,

    = 4(side)

    = 4(200 m)

    = 800 m

Sita takes 3 rounds.

Hence, the distance covered by Sita for 3 rounds = 3(Perimeter of the square park)

 = 3(800 m)

 = 2400 m

Distance covered by Gita :

 \setlength{\unitlength}{1cm}\begin{picture}(0,0)\thicklines\multiput(0,0)(5,0){2}{\line(0,1){3}}\multiput(0,0)(0,3){2}{\line(1,0){5}}\multiput(2.1,-0.7)(0,4.2){2}{\sf\large 150 m}\multiput(-1.4,1.4)(6.8,0){2}{\sf\large 100 m}\end{picture}

The length of the rectangular park = 150 m

The breadth of the rectangular park = 100 m

The distance covered by Gita for one round is equal to the Perimeter of the rectangular park.

Perimeter of the rectangular park = 2(length + breadth)

 = 2(150 m + 100 m)

 = 2(250 m)

 = 500 m

The distance covered for 4 rounds

= 4(Perimeter of the rectangular park)

= 4(500 m)

= 2000 m

Therefore,

  • Sita covers a distance of 2400 m
  • Gita covers a distance of 2000 m

Sita covers greater distance by 400 m
