Yes it is true that every multicellular organisms arises from a single cell. Cell divides to produce cells of their own kind , for example after an ovum is fertilized- the resulting one-celled organism becomes known as zygote. Once this has taken place, the zygote begins a two-week period of rapid cell division and eventually becomes an embryo
