Hell, this eye-trick isn’t even exclusive to clothes because all dark colors make objects look smaller! This holds true for furniture, fabric on a bed, house paint, and everything else that you can see.
Just look at the pictures below. It’s the same guy, but he’s wearing different colored shirts (one black, and one white). While it may not create a huge difference, he definitely looks a bit slimmer in the black shirt than the white shirt.
