Every second, 300cm3 of water comes out of a tap into a cuboid tank. The base of the tank is 40cm by 40cm The height is 12cm. How many seconds does it take to fill the tank?
Answers
Solution :
Let, diamension's of tank as follows
- Length = 40 cm
- Breadth = 40 cm
- Height = 12 cm
Here, we know cuboid tank fill by 300 cm³ per second.
Now, we use formula of volume of cuboid
⟹ volume of cuboid tank
= length * breadth * height
⟹ volume of cuboid tank
= 40 * 40 * 12
⟹ volume of cuboid tank
= 1600 * 12
⟹ volume of cuboid tank
= 19200 cm³
⟹ time taken to fill tank = volume of cuboid tank/tank filling speed
⟹ time taken to fill tank = 19200/300
⟹ time taken to fill tank = 64 sec ( approx 1 minute)
Answer : It takes 64 seconds to fill the tank.
