For example plants. They are the primary producing units in an ecosystem. They are the basis for deriving food for herbivores. Without plants, herbivores would not exist and carnivores depend on herbivores for their nourishment and nutrition. If there is no plants for herbivores they will die. The carnivores have no prey hence they will also perish. Hence, every animal in the ecosystem has a role to play and all of them are interdependent upon each other.
