Answer:

she did not have a hundred dresses because she was poor and wore the same faded dress to school everyday. She had an inferiority complex. In order to hide the complex and impress the other girls, she always said that she had a hundred dresses.

In the lesson A Hundred Dresses Wanda was from a poor family and always wore a blue dress daily. It was not dirty thought it just didn't fit perfectly. She was a very silent girl who sat on the last bench and this was just not because she was a bad student, but due to her silence.

Peggy and Maddie were best friends and Peggy used to make fun of Wanda asking her how many dresses she had, and for that Wanda used to reply " 100 dresses All lined up in my closet ". After hearing this all the girls used to burst out in laughter.

She did have 100 dresses except that they were all drawings and yet beautiful ones. She even won the drawing contest with those artistic pieces
