the details of aperance or behaviour is termed as a characterstic . the various organisms are classified on the basis of absence or presence of charatestics . the evolutionary relationships of species can be worked out by studying the hierarchies of characterstics of species . the species having more common charaterstics are more closely related  an the species having more common ancestors are more closely related .

Answer:

Evolution relies on the genetic variation in a population which affects the physical characteristics (phenotype) of an organism. Classifying organisms based on descent from a common ancestor is called phylogenetic classification. Hence, evolution and classification are closely interlinked.
