Anthropogenic action is the term given to the activities that are caused by human beings and these activities can lead to evolution:

  • A huge example of anthropogenic action is the evolution of herbicides and pesticides resistant plant species. Over time the increased use of pesticides in agriculture has led the plants to evolve and develop a resistance towards these. Hence, we can say human activities have led plants to evolve in such a way.
  • Another example of such an evolution is industrial melanism. This evolutionary effect is prominent in arthropods. Here the skin, feathers, or wings of animals changes color due to pigmentation. This pigmentation happens due to industrial pollution which is obviously a human activity.
