\piAnswer:

the angle of wedge in seconds of an arc is 40 sec.

Explanation:

  • given,

              μ =1.52, '

              λ = 5893 x10−8 cm,

            Dx =0.1 cm

  • we know the basic formula ,

                   Dx= λ / μθ

  • substitute all the values and finding θ,

                  θ = λ /2μDx  radians

                   θ= 5893 x 10^{-8} / 2 x 1.52 x 0.1

                     = 1.93 x 10^{-4}  radians.

  • but, here we want to find  angle in seconds ,

                   ∴ \pi radians  ⇒ 180^{0}

                   1.93 x 10^{-4} radians ⇒ ?

                   θ = 1.93 x 10^{-4} x 180  / \pi

                     = 40 seconds of an arc.
