Answers
Given : A copper bar carrying 1000 A has a potential drop 1m V along 10 cm of its length.
To Find : What is the resistance per meter of the bar?
Solution:
Current = 1000 A
Voltage Drop = 1 mV
Resistance = Voltage / Current
=> Resistance = 1 mV / 1000 A
=> Resistance =10⁻³ V / 10³ A
=> Resistance = 10⁻⁶ Ω
Resistance = 10⁻⁶ Ω
Length of Copper Bar = 10 cm = 10/100 = 1/10 m
=> Resistance = 10⁻⁶ Ω per 1/10 m
resistance per meter of the bar = 10 * 10⁻⁶ Ω per m
= 10⁻⁵ Ω per m
or 10 μΩ per m
resistance per meter of the bar = = 10⁻⁵ Ω per m
10 μΩ per m
