Ex. (2) In the adjoining figure line m || line n
line 1 is a transversal.
If m2 b = (x + 15)° and
m2 e = (2x + 15), find the value of x.

Solution : Z bZ S ... (corresponding angles) imZ f = m2 b = (x + 15)
m2 f + m2 e = 180° .......... (Angles in linear pair)
substituting values in the equation,
x + 15 + 2x + 15 = 180° :: 3x + 30 = 180°
..3x = 180° - 30º = 150° (subtracting 30 from both sides)
150°
(dividing both sides by 3)
