Subject: Bad condition of roads

Sir:

I write to your good self to express my concern over the bad condition of roads due to which many accidents take place every year. A poor condition of roads is one of the major causes of road accidents in India. According to data issued on road accidents by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the total number of road accidents increased by 2.5 per cent from 4,89,400 in 2014 to 5,01,423 in 2015. The total number of persons killed in road accidents increased by 4.6 per cent from 1,39,671 in 2014 to 1,46,133 in 2015. Though not all accidents are caused by poor roads, however, poor roads play quite a significant role in these accidents.

This problem of poor roads is quite widespread in the nation. Especially during and after the monsoons the roads are badly damaged. In the cities, the drains get damaged. The coverings of the manholes are dislodged. Quite frequently these broken drains and uncovered manholes become the causes of the accidents

I am residing in xxx locality, I am concerned about the safety of the people using roads in my locality. There is a bank, school and many other essential buildings in our locality. Most of the people use public transportation in our area.

The roads in our area have huge number street vendors which is making hard for the people to walk. The wastage from the shop are left in the nearby dam which is producing a bad smell and lack of cleanliness, it is spoiling the aesthetic of the environment. Since, there is always traffic jams, our area has become unnecessarily accident-prone zone.

I request you to take this matter serious and take action immediately. Many lives are at stake in our area.
