Answer:

a) The Numbers are 50 and 35

b) Speed Of Boat Is 18 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Let the Numbers be x and y :-

Sum Of The Numbers is 85 , Therefore :-

=> x + y = 85

=> y = 85 - x (Equation i)

Difference of numbers is 15 , Therefore :-

x - y = 15 \\  = )x - (85 - x) = 15 \:  \: (from \: equation \: i) \\  = )x - 85 + x = 15 \\  = )2x - 85 = 15 \\  = )2x = 85 + 15 \\  = )2x = 100 \\  = )x = 50

Thus The Numbers are :-

i) x = 50

ii)y => 85 - x

=> 85 - 50

=)35

b)

Speed Of Boat :-

Distance = 96km

Time = 8 hrs

Therefore :-

speed \:  =  \frac{distance}{time}  \\  = ) \frac{96}{8}  \\  = )16km.h {r}^{ - 1}

Speed of Boat With flow of river :-

=> Speed Of Boat + Speed of river

=> 16 + 2

=> 18 km/h

Hope it helped
