Correct Question

If the kinetic energy of a body is doubled then how does its momentum change?

Answer

Given :-

\sf K_2 = 2K_1

To find :-

Change in momentum

Solution

Initial momentum, \sf p_1 = \sqrt{2mK_1}

Final momentum, \sf p_2 = \sqrt{2mK_2}

\sf = \sqrt{2 \times m \times 2K_1}

\sf = \sqrt{2} \times \sqrt{2mK_1}

\sf = \sqrt{2} p_1

\sf p_2 = \sqrt{2} p_1

Therefore the final momentum is √2 times of initial.
