Ex5. A batsman in the net hits a ball of mass 0.15 kg at a speed of 40 m/s. The ball strikes the netting and is brought to rest in 0.5 s. Find the average force exerted by the netting on the ball.

As the ball is having initial velocity = 40m/s
it will deaccelerate to come to rest.
therefore,
using, v=u+at
a = - 40/0.5
= 80 metre per second square
Now,
F = ma
= 0.15× 80
= 12 N
