Hi!!

Here's your answer!!

Gandhi returned to India in January 1915 and plunged into the freedom struggle.Soon,he was recognised as a great leader and freedom fighter.Gandhi used the weapons non-violence and truth(Ahimsa and Satyagraha) to fight the British.People called him Bapu out of love.

Fighting for the freedom of his country, Mahatma Gandhi went to jail many times. But even from the jail he continued to lead the people. He also intiated many social reformers in the country. He fought against untouchability, encouraged women education and preached the message of self-help and universal brother hood.

His continuous efforts contributed to the freedom of India and the reformation of the Indian soceity. In 1947, when India became free, partition of country took place.Mahatma Gandhi fasted several times for peace between the Hindus and Muslims.

It was a sad day for the country, when on January 30 in 1948,a man named Nathuram Godse and shot him dead. The great Mahatma Gandhi is rightly called the 'Father of Nation'.

Hope this helps you!!
