Examine the political cartoon. The pillars are labeled with the names of states from Delaware to New York. North Carolina and Rhode Island appear to be tipping over.
What does the cartoon tell us about the ratification of the Constitution?

  • Here it is seen that Carolina and Rhode Island are falling and besides it is written that they are saying save me. So, this depicts that the other states like New York and Delaware are in majority of not ratifying the constitution.
  • The eleven of them were in a majority as they felt that a new powering nation would be and pose a serious threat to the rights of people and also to the rights of the state as a whole.
  • These eleven states also feared that the federal courts would be too distant from their livelihood and this shall come to be a very big and serious problem in the future.
  • They felt that the new system dangered the liberty of the people and as a system, it would not be good as per the consideration of human rights.
  • The two states falling down depict the view that they believed that liberty and rights would be firmly protected by a new system arises.
  • The picture shows two opinions one of the Anti-Federalists which is the 1 state and the other two which were in support of the new federal government.
