when any number p is divided by any number n then if q and r are

quotient and remainder respectively then

p=nq+r

here p=8 n=13

then 8=13q+r——————(1) ( r is 0 to 12)

13q=8-r————————(2)

now as 13q >=0

8-r >=0

r<=8

in (2) putting r=8

13q=0 or q=0

thus 8=0*13+8————(3)

on comparison of (1) and 3 we get

q=0 and r=7

Thus quotient= 0 and remainder=8
