Mary age was x-7 years
her daughter age was y-7 years
according to question, x-7=7(y-7)
x-7=7y-49
x-7y=-42
3 years after,
Mary age will be x+3 years
her daughter age will be y+3 years
according to question,
x+3=3(y+3)
x+3=3y+9
x-3y=6
now solve both equation
subtract eq. x-7y=-42 from x-3y=6
we get,4y=48
y=12put it any equation, we get
x=42
