We can calculate consecutive impact of % change using a simple formula. Suppose we have two changes x% and y% consecutively , so the total impact will be

(x)+(y)+{(x)*(y)/100} %.

If x or y is percentage increase in quantity then take +x or +y like (+x) or (+y) . For decrease take them (-x) and (-y). The symbol of + or - in answer indicate Increase or decrease respectively.

Decrease is 50% that is -50 and Increase is 50% that is +50 ; hence

Change = -50+50+{(-50 * +50)/100} %

= -250/100 %

= -25 %

Impact is -ve

hence loss = 25%
