SOLUTION

GIVEN

a:b=2:3 and x:y=4:5

TO DETERMINE

(5ax + 3by) : (10ax +4by)

EVALUATION

Here it is given that a:b=2:3

Let a = 2k and b = 3k

Also x:y=4:5

Let x = 4m and y = 5m

Where m and k are non zero real number

Now

(5ax + 3by) : (10ax + 4by)

= ( 40 mk + 45 mk ) : ( 80 mk + 60 mk )

= 85 mk : 140 mk

= 85 : 140

= 17 : 28
