As we know that all sides of a square are equal

Let, the side of a square be x cm.

Then, According to Pythagorean theorem :

 {x}^{2} + {x}^{2} = {(16.97)}^{2} \\ \\ = > 2 {x}^{2} = 287.9809 \\ \\ = > {x}^{2} = 143.99045 \\ \\ = > x = \sqrt{143.99045} = 11.99 = 12

So, the side of square will be 12 cm. (approx)

Now, Area of square = (side)^2 = (12)^2 = 144 sq. cm. ✔✔
