tension T1, T2 and T3 when   (i) the whole system  is going upward with an acceleration of 2 m/s2  (ii) the whole system is stationary (g = 9.8 m/s2)​

  • So the mass of m3 is 3 kg
  • One force acting on it is T3 and another force is mg
  • So mg = 3 x 9.8  
  •          = 29.4 N
  • So T3 = 29.4 N
  • Also there is no force acting and the system is stationery.
  • Now the weight of m2 is 2 kg
  • One force acting on it is T2 and another is mg, one more force acting on it is T3
  • So T2 = mg + T3
  •         = 2 x 9.8 + 29.4
  •        = 19.6 + 29.4
  •        = 49 N
  • Now the weight of m1 is 5 kg
  • One force acting on it is T1 and another is m1g, one more force acting on it is T2
  • So T1 = m1g + T2
  •          = 5 x 9.8 + 49

  • The weight of 3 masses is 3 kg, 2 kg and 5 kg. So the whole system is moving with an upward acceleration of 2 m/s^2

  • So in 3 kg block we have the forces T3, mg and ma
  • So T3 = m(g + a)
  •          = 3 (9.8 + 2)

  • Now taking two blocks as single system we have
  • So mass will be m = 2 + 3 = 5 kg
  • So the forces are T2, mg and ma
  • Now mg = 5 x 9.8 = 49 N        
  • Now T2 = m (g + a)
  •            = 5(9.8 + 2)
  •             = 11.8 x 5
  •               = 59 N
  • Now for T1 we have, forces are T1, mg and ma
  • So total mass 5 + 3 + 2 = 10 kg
  • So T1 = mg + ma
  •           = m(g + a)
  •           = 10 (9.8 + 2)
  •          = 10 x 11.8
  •         = 118 N
