Example for Inertia is :

1. When you are at a bus moving at a uniform velocity and the bus suddenly brakes, the passengers in the bus tend to move forward. This means that the "bodies in a state of uniform motion tend to stay so as long as an external force is not applied". This exemplifies the inertia of motion.

2. Further when you try to (say) clean dirt off your shoes by stamping, you are actually trying to move the shoes however relatively, the dirt on those tries to remain at rest and everytime you stamp your feet, the dirt in its tendency to remain at rest somewhat gets loosen off the surface of the shoes. This exemplifies the inertia of rest.
