Example of an amphoteric oxide is (C) Al2O3

  • Generally, all metal oxides are basic in nature but few exceptions like Aluminium show amphoteric nature.
  • Aluminium can react with both acids and bases . This ability to form both basic as well as acidic oxide makes it an amphoteric oxide.
  • This is because the electronegativity difference between Aluminium and that of Oxygen is very less. Hence, Aluminum can be called as Amphoteric oxide.
