A continuous variable is one whose adjacent values (+/-) are not uniform discrete steps.
In nature, nearly all variables are continuous until size reaches a quantum level, and then some variables are subject to eigenvalue constraints.
So, at a macroscopic level, mass (weight), energy, temperature, speed, length, etc. are all continuous variables.
