Evaporation: The process of changing of substance from liquid state to gaseous state.

Factors affect the rate of evaporation are:-

Temperature: Rate of evaporation increases when temperature increases.

Surface area: Rate of evaporation increases when surface are increases.

Wind speed: Rate of evaporation increases when wind speed increases.

Humidity: Rate of evaporation decreases when humidity increases.

Evaporation causes cooling.

Examples are:-

1. Desert cooler is preferred on a hot dry day.

2. Cooling effect on our palm, when we put some acetone on it.

3. Cotton clothes are preferred during summer season.

4. We are able to drink hot tea or coffee faster from saucer than a cup.

5. Storage of water in earthen pot to keep it cool.
