Hy,
Pavlov did a very famous experiment known as classical conditioning which can be leant from the diagram
Similarly our attitude also depends on this. I will give u an example from my field only.
White coat fear-
Let's take injection as a unconditioned stimulus and white coat/doctor apron as a neutral stimulus.
We know that children needs to get vaccinated frequently. So, if in past, child has been injected which is a unconditioned stimulus, the child gave a response of crying which is a unconditioned response. Mind it that he also saw doctor wearing a white coat, so white coat has become a neutral stimulus and the child remembers that someone in white coat injected him which was painful and child cried, that's unconditioned response.
Now,whenever that child will go in a clinic or hospital, he'll see the doctor wearing a white apron and start crying irrespective of the fact wheter the doc has an injection or not.
This is how he developed attitude that a white coat wearing person will give him pain of injection.

Hope it helps
